Thorne's interns and volunteers provide valuable support and service for our various educational programs, activities, special events, and office duties. Intern and volunteer opportunities are available year round at Thorne Ecological Institute in Boulder and Waterton Canyon and we welcome people from all walks of life.  Please note we do not have the funding to pay interns. 

Interns and volunteers receive real-world experience in an active nonprofit.  Other benefits include resume building, professional references, and personal gain and fulfillment

in contributing to a local nonprofit.

volunteer/internship SUMMER TEACHING ASSISTANT

positions in Boulder and Waterton Canyon!

Do you want to have fun outside this summer or need experience in the Environmental Education field?  Want to build your resume, earn professional references, gain college credit, or expand your ecological knowledge?  Thorne Natural Science School Teaching Assistant's (TA's) are needed for our half and full day summer programs in Boulder and Waterton Canyon. TA's who commit to more than two weeks must have cpr, first aid, and universal precautions training and also submit fingerprints and a background check.  Teaching Assistant's are all volunteer or unpaid internship positions.  For more information or to sign up call or email Alyson Duffey

Experienced and excited Environmental Educators

needed for Thorne Natural Science School Summer 2008!  TNSS Teachers must have 1,000 hours of environmental education in the field with children between the ages of 3-15 documented by past employers, and a college degree in a related field.  We are looking for creative, energetic, passionate outdoor educators with experience in teaching children about insects, plants, Colorado ecology, mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fly fishing, survival skills, biking, etc.  All Teachers must have current CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, and Medication Administration Certification and complete our mandatory nine-hour teacher training in May.  Background checks and fingerprints are required to be submitted to the State of Colorado. 

Teachers are needed to fill eight weeks of TNSS classes in Boulder and seven weeks in Waterton Canyon (between five and ten classes are offered per week).  Teachers must sign up for at least four weeks.  Teachers are required to be on site starting at 8am and ending at 12:15pm unless signed up for classes with different times.  Compensation starts at $15 an hour for first year Teachers to TNSS.
